At its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025, Apple revealed the latest versions of its mobile operating systems, iOS 26 for iPhones and iPadOS 26 for iPads. Along with a fresh design concept dubbed “Liquid Glass,” the update delivers a suite of new features and enhancements aimed at improving user experience across supported devices.
Apple confirmed that the new iOS 26 update will be available exclusively on iPhones equipped with the A13 chip or later. This excludes several models such as the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max from receiving the update. Additionally, certain AI-powered Apple Intelligence features will not be accessible on every compatible device, continuing a selective feature rollout strategy seen last year.
For users unsure of their iPhone model, the device name can be checked by navigating to Settings > General > About > Model Name.
The following iPhone models are eligible for iOS 26:
* iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max

Apple’s iPadOS 26 will support a wide range of iPads featuring the A12-series chip and newer, including those powered by the A13, A14, A15, A16, and the M-series processors. Users can verify their iPad model through Settings > General > About > Model Name.
Eligible iPads include:
* iPad (8th to 11th generation)

The update introduces a revamped interface with the Liquid Glass design language, enhancing visual clarity and fluidity. Users can anticipate smoother performance, improved AI features (subject to device capabilities), and a range of new functionalities aimed at making everyday tasks easier.
Apple users eager to upgrade should check compatibility before proceeding. Devices not on the supported list will not receive iOS 26 or iPadOS 26.
